Description
He had an exemplary military career: enlisted at the age of fifteen, he distinguished himself in Spain, in Algeria where he founded Sidi-Bel-Abbès and took part in the Italian and Crimean wars before being appointed senator by Napoleon III.
Autograph letter signed and dated Nantes, 14.01.1888 to AT :"… de l’amitié que vous me conservez et à laquelle j’attache tant de …”. Included: Visiting card dated 09.1885 signed on the back to Ambroise Thomas:"…tous mes compliments à Madame et Monsieur …”. – This lot is under temporary import in the UK. 5% VAT is due if delivered in the UK.
