Description
He began his career under the ancien régime. He took part with La Fayette in the American War of Independence. He became one of the most brilliant generals of the Revolution and Empire, and was made Marshal of the Empire in 1804. Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor. He was Governor of the Invalides under Louis-Philippe.
Document signed "Jourdan" as Marshal Governor, Besançon, July 6, 1815, 3/4 p. in folio. Beautiful piece Order placed at the very beginning of the second Restoration. He authorized General Delavaux (Etienne, Maynaud Bizefranc de Lavaux, 1751-1828, then commander of the National Guard in Besançon) from whom he received the report on the Mont Brifitte camp, to request the necessary materials, workers, etc. to the increase in the number of barracks in this camp, etc. etc. – This lot is under temporary import in the UK. 5% VAT is due if delivered in the UK.
