Letter signed, dated "Torino li 4 9bre 1652" by the Duchess of Savoy, sister of louis XIII of France. Addressed to the Marquis of Villa. The Battle of Crescentino was fought on April 24, 1652, during the Franco-Spanish War. The Savoyard army, led by the Count of Verrua, defeated the French army, led by the Count of Harcourt. The victory prevented the French from crossing the Po River and invading Piedmont. The Duchess writes: "...Scriviamo al Conte di Verrua che trattenendosi l'inimico di qua da Po lo passi ancor egli senza dilazione coll'esercito. Lasciamo anche a sua elezione di riunire le truppe di cavalleria che sono appresso di voi...". Another signature.
