SCIENCE AND MEDICINE - SIEBOLD Philipp Franz von (1796 - 1866) - Autograph letter signed

A doctor at the age of 24, he entered the service of the East India Company in 1822, before being sent to Japan. There he founded a botanical garden in Deshima. In 1828, he sent to Batavia important collections of the country's natural products, which he donated to the Leiden museum.
