Studied medicine in Montpellier, then Geneva. In 1909, he became an assistant at the Leysin sanatorium. In 1911, he became director of the Mont-Blanc sanatorium and worked tirelessly to combat tuberculosis. In 1954, he became an honorary professor at the University of Lausanne. At the request of King Fouad I of Egypt, he built a sanatorium in Heluan. Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1959.
