At the age of twelve he entered the Warsaw Conservatory and then studied composition in Vienna. In 1887 he gave his first concert in Vienna, then in Paris, London and the USA. In 1897, he bought a property in Morges. He represented the Poles in exile and in 1919 returned to Poland as Prime Minister. In 1940, he left Switzerland for the USA, where he continued his diplomatic activities.
