MUSIC - AUBER Esprit Daniel François (1782 - 1871) - Autograph letter signed

Known since 1806 for his chamber music and concertos, he turned to the theatre from 1812 and wrote numerous works, operas and comic operas, in collaboration with Scribe: Manon Lescaut (1856). He was Director of the Paris Conservatoire (1842) and Master of the Imperial Chapel (1857).
Autograph letter signed and dated “mercredi”: "Si ces dames veulent accepter notre petit dîner aujourd'hui, de là elles iront au Cheval de Bronze…”. Included: invitation card to the composer's funeral.
