Studied at Kazan University. In 1851, he did his military service and published his first book: Childhood. After the Crimean War, he travelled to Germany, Switzerland and France, before returning to Iasnaïa.
Fine and fairly long autograph letter signed by his cousin Countess Alexandra Tolstoy (1817-1904) 29.03.1901 addressed to a young autograph collector: “Mon cher jeune Monsieur, votre amie Mlle Marguerite Masha vient de m’écrire que vous désirez avoir mon autographe... mon nom sera très confus de se trouver dans une collection de célébrités…". 2 p.
