A graduate in education, he studied at the Saidapet Teacher's College in Madras. From 1928 to 1933 he stayed at the Fellowship School in Gland, founded in October 1921 by Emma Thomas, to prepare his doctoral thesis, defended at the Sorbonne in 1932: "The personal factor in the educational process".
