Autograph letter signed "J. Michelet" to a friend, June 2, 1860, 4 p. in-8°. Attached an autograph manuscript signed 1 p. 3/4 in-8°, entitled: "L'Homme est-il nécessaire?" and an autograph letter signed by Ms. Michelet. Interesting letter, where he quotes Chateaubriand, relating to the variations that time brings to the subject of judgment on writers. "L'Homme n'eût pas vécu sons l'oiseau... Mais l'oiseau eut vêcu sans l’homme…” Included: Autograph letter signed 4 pp. in-16.
