LITERATURE - LITTRE Emile (1801 - 1881) - Autograph letter signed

Philologist, translator of Hippocrates, positivist philosopher, he contributed to several journals. He was a Paris city councillor in 1848 and a deputy for the Seine in 1871. His most important work is his Dictionnaire de la langue française.
Autograph letter signed Ménil-le-roi, 13.07.1877 :"je n'ai jamais vu "Zicher" emlpoyé en français. C'est l'ancien mot "cithare" qui en est l'équivalent ...".
