LITERATURE - HUGO Adèle (1830 - 1915) - Autograph letter signed

Daughter of Victor Hugo. She was a woman of great beauty. She followed her mother's travels, to Graville, in exile in Jersey, then to Guernsey where she suffered a breakdown. She returned to Paris, then went to London where she met Lieutenant Pinson, whom she considered her fiancé. She tried to follow him to Halifax and learned of his marriage. She went mad and died a few years later in the nursing home where she had been placed.
