A socialist and trade union activist, he was a member of parliament from 1902 until his death, and in 1905 brought in the law on the State. He was a minister 25 times, including 19 times as Minister of Foreign Affairs and 11 times as President of the Council. He left his mark on diplomacy, multiplying opportunities to establish peace in Europe. His name was attached to the Locarno Conference (1925), where he promoted the notion of an arbitration convention, which led to the Briand-Kellogg Pact (1928), in which 60 nations renounced war. Nobel Peace Prize in 1926.
