Description
A publicist and politician, he was a promoter of low-cost newspapers and in 1836 created La Presse, a daily newspaper that relied heavily on advertising to secure its readership and on the serial novel to keep its readers. He was a precursor of the modern press. He was a precursor of the modern press. Autograph letter signed 26.02: “…les excellents articles que vous avez publié dans Le Temps et dont j’ai conservé quelques uns…”.
