One of the greatest orators of this century. Studied in Tarascon. In 1660, he went to Paris. He won the favour of the Court and devoted himself to literature and history. He became tutor to the Dauphin and began to be known for his preaching. He was admitted to the Académie Française in 1763. In 1685, he was consecrated bishop of Nîmes, where he made the academy brilliant.
Manuscript signed "Spiritus Epus Nemaus" written in Latin, August 1, 1703, 1p. oblong in-4°, intact red wax armorial seal. Beautiful rare piece. Exeat for Mr. Virgil, priest.
