LITERATURE - DUCIS Jean-François (1733 - 1816) - Autograph document

Tragic author, adaptor in verse of Shakespeare, although he did not know English. He was secretary to the Count of Provence. He was admitted to the Académie française in 1779. He was a regular at Necker's salon. It was around him that the literati who formed the Déjeuner de la Fourchette society gathered. Autograph piece entitled "Les sept amis ou la Pleyade", a curious manuscript in which he lists the names of his friends. 3 pp. in-4 with two autograph fragments included.
