LITERATURE - ABOUT Edmond (1828 - 1885) - Autograph letter signed

Writer, journalist and art critic. A brilliant student, he entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure in 1848 and passed the agrégation de lettres in 1851. The same year, he was appointed to the French school in Athens where he stayed for two years. In 1867 and 1868 he visited Egypt and took part in the inaugural voyage of the Orient Express in 1883.
