HISTORY - GUIZOT François Pierre (1787 - 1874) - Letter signed
Description
Professor of history at the Sorbonne, he became Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, then of Justice. As a Member of Parliament, he contributed to the establishment of the July Monarchy. Minister of the Interior, then of Public Education. He introduced the Guizot law, which obliged each commune to maintain a primary school. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Council. Académie Française and Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. Letter signed, dated Paris, 04.06.1846:”… je vous prie de l’accueillir avec bienveillance et de faire tout ce qui dépendra de vous pour contribuer au succès de son voyage…”.
