West Point Military Academy. Officer in the US Army from 1915 to 1948. Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces from 1943 to 1945. Commander-in-Chief of NATO from 1950 to 1952. 34th President of the USA from 1953 to 1961. On his mother's side, he was a pacifist who opposed war and violence. He believed that a strong army was the key to keeping the peace.
