HISTORY - WAVELL Archibald (1883 - 1950) - Signed printed photograph

After attending the Camberley War College, he went to Russia as an observer. Between the wars, he was placed on half pay and, a lover of poetry and historical literature, he wrote his memoirs. In 1936, he was sent to Russia as a Red Army observer. He was appointed Commander of the British Army in the Middle East during the Second World War, then Viceroy of India from 1943 to 1947.
