HISTORY - AUCHINLECK Claude John Eyre (1884 - 1981) - Signed printed photograph
He commanded British forces in India (1941). Commander-in-Chief in the Middle East in 1941-42, he unblocked Tobruk and drove Rommel back to El-Agheila. Counter-attacked, he retreated to El-Alamein. He resumed command of the Indian Army from 1943 to 1947, before retiring to Morocco.
