HISTORY - SMITH William Sydney (1764 - 1840) - Autograph letter signed

He distinguished himself in the Russo-Swedish War. Then took part in the French Revolution. As defender of Saint Jean d'Acre, he forced Napoleon to lift the siege. After Napoleon's farewell at Fontainebleau, Smith settled permanently in Paris.
