HISTORY - NAPIER Charles (1786 - 1860) - Autograph letter signed

In 1829, he was sent to Lisbon and won the battle of Saint Vincent which precipitated the fall of Michael 1st of Portugal. In 1840 he operated in the Mediterranean and in 1854 in the Baltic. He did everything in his power to develop steam navigation.
