HISTORY - MOUNTBATTEN of Burma Louis (1900 - 1979) - Typed letter signed

Educated at the Royal Navy College before joining the Royal Navy where he served during both wars. Churchill promoted him to Operations Commander in 1941 and in 1947 Attlee appointed him Deputy King of India. He was Commander of the Mediterranean Fleet, then First Sea Lord and finally Chief of the Defence Staff. He was assassinated by an IRA bomb planted on his holiday boat.
