Description
Liberal MP, Home Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Prime Minister (1908-1916), he supported Lloyd George’s plans and defended Home Rule for Ireland, which he pushed through in 1914. He entered the First World War and in 1916 passed power to Lloyd George and took over the leadership of the Liberal Party, whose decline he was unable to prevent.
Autograph letter signed dated 12.06.1893 to Paul Langer Senior. “I regret to say that the Galleries are already full for the whole of this week …”
