HISTORY - FRANCOIS I (1708 - 1765) - Document signed

In 1736, he married the future Empress Maria Theresa, heiress of the House of Austria. At the end of the Polish War of Succession, he renounced the Duchy of Lorraine and received the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in compensation. He was elected Emperor of the Romans in 1745, but Maria Theresa left him little room for initiative.
