Description

Studied law in Berlin, Munich, Bonn and Strasbourg. In 1912, he opened a law practice in Metz, then a German city. In 1919, he became a member of parliament for Moselle. In 1939, he was appointed Under-Secretary of State for Refugees. In 1947, he became President of the Council, then Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was the main negotiator of all the major treaties at the end of the war. In 1950, he created the European Coal and Steel Community, which is at the origin of today’s European Union.
Signed printed photograph applied to cardboard. Included: Autograph letter signed, dated Geneva, 09.09.1953 to Paul Langer: “…à Mr Paul Langer pour sa sympathie et …”.
