HISTORY - PRESSENSE Edmond de (1824 - 1891) - Autograph letter signed

Studied theology in Lausanne. He was a great preacher and a renowned political orator. He became a member of the National Assembly in 1871 and a senator in 1883. Appointed to the Académie des Sciences in 1890. He was a fervent defender of the separation of church and state.
