A poet, novelist, playwright and orator, he was one of the greatest figures of French Romanticism. He entered the diplomatic service in 1821, resigned on the accession of Louis-Philippe, then travelled to the Orient. He was deputy for Bergues (Nord) in 1833, then general councillor in Mâcon, and finally Minister of Foreign Affairs until 1848. Académie française in 1829.

Included: Promissory note, Paris, 28.01.1869:"… la somme de vingt francs…"; Two autograph letter signed: The first dated Paris, 01.02.1869 to Paul Langer Senior: "… si je n'ai pas trop présumé, Monsieur, de votre indulgence…”The second: Autograph letter signed to Paul Langer Senior.
