From 1919 to 1921, he took part in a French military mission in Berlin. From 1926, he worked for the "second office" in Syria. He was then a military attaché in the Baltic republics, and in 1939 in Finland. After the capitulation of France, he joined the Resistance. Caught by the Gestapo, he was imprisoned in Buchenwald until 1945. He then ran the French section of Berlin, without retaliating against those who had imprisoned him in a camp, but rather seeking to understand them. In 1950, he was awarded the Legion of Merit by High Commissioner John McCloy.
Signed printed photograph applied to cardboard in-16 and dated Berlin, 17.10.1946 to Paul Langer.
