HISTORY - GAMELIN Maurice Gustave (1872 - 1958) - Signed printed photograph
Description
Trained at Saint Cyr. During the First World War, he served under Joffre. In 1931 he was appointed Chief of the Army General Staff and in 1938 Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces. He considered the French army to be ill-prepared. From the Maginot line, he wanted to join the allied forces to create a continuous line, but this failed and he was replaced by Weygand.
