HISTORY - DUCHENE Denis Auguste (1862 - 1950) - Typed letter signed
Description
Studied at the Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint Cyr, followed by a classic career as an infantry officer. In 1914, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 20th Army Corps. Commander of the Legion of Honour. Authoritarian and hot-tempered, he was feared by his subordinates and disliked by his men. In 1918, an unfortunate defensive decision ruined his career. He was placed in reserve in 1924.
Typed letter signed and dated Paris, 27.07.1922 to Paul Langer :”…il a été très sensible à vos aimable de bienvenue et à votre si cordiale invitation…”.
