Autograph letter signed "C. Bourbaki" to deputy Barthelemy St-Hilare, Lyon, January 10, 1872, approx. 3 pp. in folio, envelope attached. Long and interesting letter relating to the softening of the preventive measures to be taken, before extradition from Austria and his appearance before the courts, with regard to Mr de S.. subject of proceedings brought by the widow A.. de Dijon whose husband was executed in Beaune on December 27, 1870. General Bourbaki recalls his memorable campaign: "...During the campaign that I made with the 1st Army, in 1870-1871, in the East of France, the then Minister of War had delegated Mr. de S. to my side. I owe it to the truth to say that I had nothing but to praise myself for my relations with the minister's delegate, that I always found him eager to see our enterprise crowned with success.”
