General and aide-de-camp to Bonaparte (1802). Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. He was ambassador to Russia from 1807 to 1811. Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1813 to 1815, he was a supporter of peace and represented Napoleon at the Congress of Châtillon in 1814.
