He distinguished himself at the Battle of Fleurus, then in the Army of the Rhine and in the Italian campaigns. He was taken prisoner by the British on his return from the second expedition to Saint-Domingue and was not released until 1814. General in the wars of the Revolution and the Empire.
Document signed "Brunet" as general commanding the Southern and Artibonite divisions, St Marc (St Domingue), ler Pluviose An XI (January 2, 1803), 1 p. in folio obl. Vignette, frame and text (in part) printed. Wet stamps, beautiful piece. It aims and approves the leave issued by the members of the Board of Directors of the 5th 1/2 light infantry brigade, signatories to the document numbering 8, to the hunter Jean Bouvet, native of Givry (Jura), injured by a gunshot, etc. on the back copy of the visit certificate of the person concerned.
