Lot 167 · The Langer Collection · 29 April 2024
In 1777 he joined the army. Peer of France, he fought at Fleurus, then in Germany with Moreau, then in Switzerland against Suvorov. Retired after Moreau's trial, he was recalled by the Bourbons. He signed the armistice of Bavilliers with the Austrians.
Document signed "Lecourbe" as division general with a few autograph words, s.l.n.d. 1 p. in folio. Beautiful piece. He certifies as true to the original a copy of the appointment made at the headquarters of Lutzbourg, on 15 Thermidor in VII, by General-in-Chief Massena (signed by the latter in the original) of Captain Duche to the rank of Chief of battalion. This appointment was made on the proposal of Lecourbe who noted the brilliant conduct of the person concerned in the II Thermidor affair: ”… a nommé le citoyen Duché, chef de Bataillon…”.
