HISTORY - MOUCHEZ Ernest Amédée Barthélemy (1821 - 1892) - Autograph letter signed

Since graduating from the Ecole Navale in 1839, he spent his life on sea expeditions and acquired the reputation of an excellent naval officer, a distinguished geographer and a skilful astronomer. In 1875, his work earned him a seat in the Académie des Sciences. He was director of the Paris Observatory in 1878.
