Description

He followed his brother to France and was created King of Westphalia by him. After Waterloo, he withdrew to Italy and did not return to France until the Second Republic. In 1848, he was appointed Governor of the Invalides and made Marshal of France in 1850.
Letter signed dated 30.12.1808 to Pierre de Montesquiou-Fezensac : “…j’ai reçu la lettre que vous avez bien voulu m’écrire et les vœux que vous formez pour moi. Je vous remercie de cette nouvelle assurance de votre attachement…”.
