Renzo Rossellini (Rome, 1908 – Monaco, 1982)"The bells". Opera in one act. Words and music by Renzo Rossellini. Autograph musical manuscript signed and dated Rome October 18 – November 30, 1958, by the composer and music critic. This is the first draft of the work (intended for television, directed by Margarete Wallmann) published in 1959 by Ricordi. 62 pages of music on manuscript paper (18 staves), numbered, in black ink, pencil and red pencil. Letterhead ‘G. Ricordi e C.’ Handwritten dedication signed on the flyleaf (blue ink), to a "Cara Lina", dated May 1959. "affido alle mani più degne, alle tue, questo manoscritto che non so cosa valga, ma che ha il merito di aver creato la nostra amicizia…". Included are 7 black and white photographs (in various formats) depicting the maestro.
