Anthony Eden (Rushyford, 1897 - Salisbury, 1977)Interesting typed letter signed and dated September 17th, 1930 by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Eden addresses the literary agency "James B. Pinker & Sons": "...In writing to you and thanking you for the cheques for 'Places in the Sun' received this Summer I omitted to write, as I suppose I should have done, giving formal notice to terminate our agreement. (…) I see no immediate prospect of writing another book as I had hoped to do earlier this year…". James Brand Pinker, 1863-1922, was the leading British literary agent of the first third of the 20th century. Professional literary agents were a phenomenon in late 19th century Britain. Pinker was an energetic and highly effective agent for countless authors, including Eden, who published a travel book in 1926 entitled: "Places in the Sun". 1 p. In-4°.
