(Theater) Bartolomeo Camerani (Ferrara 1735 - Paris 1816)Autograph letter signed, not dated [1801], by the celebrated theatre actor, from 1767 in Paris at the Comédie italienne”. Initially part of the company of the Teatro San Luca in Venice, he was later first actor at the Teatro San Giovanni Crisostomo. He was best known as interpreter of Carlo Goldoni's comedies. Camerani addresses the composer Stanislas Champein (1753 - 1830): “…Je t’adresse avec une entière confiance la Citoyenne Quenet – c’est une amie de ma femme, qui demeure à St. Ouen, et qui loge chez elle une personne qui a une mauvaise affaire au Bureau Central. La personne dont je te parle, Bon amy, est le C[itoyen] SADE, homme de lettre, qui a fait jadi quelque comédie pour notre théâtre…”. In march 1792 Sade's opera "Le Suboneur" was performed at the "Théâtre Italien." In 1801, Sade was arrested for publishing a novella where he put Josephine Beauharnais, Barras and Napoleon himself. 1 p. In-8.
