Walter Gieseking (Lyon, 1895 - London, 1956)Autograph letter signed, dated Bochum in Westfalen, April 5, 1922, by the renown pianist and composer. Addressed to "Très cher Maestro". He thanks the correspondent for sending him the score of an opera (possibly Gnecchi's "Cassandra"): "Malheureusement je n'ai pas encore trouvé le temps de jouer plus que quelques pages de vos compositions, qui prouvent dans chaque mesure le grand talent de leur auteur et qui m'intéressent très vivement". Currently his commitments do not allow him to study the score in depth (he has to travel extensively to give various concerts). However, he plans to do it after Easter: "Et alors je jouerai soigneusement Cassandra et La Rosiera [two Gnecchi's operas] en pensant aux beaux jours passés à Milan". For the forthcoming winter, he has a scheduled tour in Spain: "J'espère qu'une série de concerts nella bellissima Italia s'ajouteront dans ma liste". 1 p. In-4°, recto and verso.
