Frederick I of Sweden (Cassel, 1676 - Stockholm, 1751)Beautiful letter signed, dated Stockholm 16 Juili 1739 by the King of Sweden and Prince of Finland (1720-1751). Frederick addresses Charles III of Spain, congratulating him on his recent marriage with Princess Marie Amelie of Saxony. Marie Amélie was only thirteen years old at the time, so a papal dispensation was required for the marriage. The meeting between the two spouses took place on June 19, 1738 in Portella, a town on the border of the kingdom, and during the celebrations, on July 3, King Charles instituted the distinguished and royal order of San Gennaro, the most prestigious knightly order of the Two Sicilies.
