Description
Autograph letter signed, dated “Paris, le 21 Juillet 1828” by the French mathematician and physicist born in Auxerre and best known for initiating the investigation of Fourier series, which eventually developed into Fourier analysis and harmonic analysis, and their applications to problems of heat transfer and vibrations. Addressed to the Italian botanist, director of the Bothanical garden in Lyon Jean-Baptiste Balbis (1765 – 1831): “…L’académie, Monsieur a reçu l’ouvrage que vous avez bien voulu lui adresser et qui est intitulé: flore Lyonnaise ou description des plantes qui croissent dans les environs de Lyon…”. 1 p.
