Description
Autograph letter signed, dated “Milano – febbraio 19 – 930” by the Italian tenor. He was leading tenor at the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1923 to 1933, appearing there in a total of 307 performances. During this 10-year period he sang with Maria Jeritza in the American premiere of Puccini’s “Turandot” and with Rosa Ponselle in the Met premiere of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller”. Addressed to the composer, conductor and journalist Adriano Lualdi (1885 – 1971): “…Tornato a Milano – dopo nove anni di assenza – per cantare “Trovatore” alla Scala, appena giunto da New York, mi è grato ricordarmi a Lei, che mi conobbe in seguito alla presentazione della Mazzoleni…”. 1 p.
