Description
Photographic portrait with autograph dedication signed, dated “New York 1919” of the Italian tenor. Considered ‘the tenor’ par excellence, of modest origins, he worked in the foundry in his youth and was discovered as a baritone by Eduardo Missiano, who pointed him out to Maestro Guglielmo Vergine. He made his debut on 16 November 1894 in Domenico Morelli’s ‘L’amico Francesco’. Dedicated to the composer Vincenzo Billi (1869-1938). Photograph by Mishkin. (17 x 21 cm). Applied on cardboard.
