Description
Autograph signature and sketch, postmarked “JUL 10 1973” by the American inventor, physicist, and eugenicist. He was the manager of a research group at Bell Labs that included John Bardeen and Walter Brattain. The three scientists were jointly awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for "their researches on semiconductors and their discovery of the transistor effect". Above his signature, Shockley pens a sketch of his famous inventions. On commemorative First day cover of the 25th anniversary of the invention of the transistors. (16.5 x 9 cm).
